And so it begins...

Today's Training: 6 Miles, 54:08.
Year total: 581.7 Miles

Today is the first day of the rest of my year. The Runners World Half Marathon is in 12 weeks and that can only mean one thing, time to start training. This training is going to be a bit different, since I am training for three different races in two days. For the first two weeks, I will be focusing on running six to eight miles four or five days a week. From there, it moves to five days a week with a mix of long runs and track workouts.

If you live in the Northeast you completely understand July. One week it is hot, but not so humid. The next it is so hot and humid you cannot even think without sweating. Then it storms for about a week, and gets nice at the end. This year did not disappoint, and we are finally in the nice end to the month. Let's hope August stays the same.

I completed the Runners World Memorial Day to Fourth of July run streak earlier this month. I did 121 miles in 39 days. After I finished, I really hurt my hip. Since then, July has been a struggle. The weather didn't help either, but that would all end today.

After work I thought I would beat the crowd heading downtown to the Pirates game and get a nice easy trail run in. Lets just say, I'm glad I decided to not run in a sports bra today. After two miles on the trail you end up right by PNC Park and Heinz Field. The amount of people eating and drinking by the river was crazy. Glad it was only for two miles. Then back to the trail.

The other headliner of the day is the last run in my final pair of Brooks Pure Cadence bright pink shoes. They have kind of become my staple, but when Brooks changed their lines, they also changed colors, leaving me with a dilemma. Change the shoes which I love so much only for a color, or get over it and find a new color. Never the less, I found a new color. We will see how this goes!
