Moving Along Through 2014

I don’t think I can say this enough. JUNE IS MY FAVORITE MONTH!! It’s my birthday month, the weather is beautiful and it is a great time to gauge where I am for the year.

I set a few goals for myself months ago, and I was really curious on how far along I am almost half way through the year.

To recap, I had five goals for the year. They were:
1. 1,111 miles in 2014
2. 100 miles in July
3. Two full marathons with two PRs
4. Four half marathons
5. Connect more with the running community

So, how am I doing so far?

1. 434 Miles this year (As of June 9). I am not worried about my mileage right now. I will be spending the rest of the year training for two marathons. The miles will add up.

2. July is just under a month away! Plus, my first day of Columbus Marathon training is July 1st. If I follow my training to the T, I should have a 130 mile July. I’m feeling really good right now, and this should happen.

3. Well, my first marathon this year was 20 minutes under my marathon PR. Let’s be honest, I was crazy for thinking I could PR the day after a half marathon. Columbus could be different. I am really just looking forward to getting back in to marathon shape.

4. I will not be running four half marathons this year. I will cap out at three. I was supposed to run one this month, but with the amount of traveling I have been doing, I decided to be smart and not get injured just to reach this goal. I am running the 5K of the race, so at least I am doing something. I have actually been aiming for 14 races in 2014. I have done seven already, I am registered for 13. Just need one more!!

5. I am pretty sure I have successfully achieved this goal. I have connected with my running community so much in the first half of 2014. I have become an ambassador for some amazing organizations, and have met such inspirational people along the way!

Overall, I think I’m doing a pretty good job so far in 2014. There is a lot of this year left to go. Some amazing races to be ran and memories to last a lifetime!
