The Week That Was: May 26 - June 1

Happy June everyone!! June is my favorite month because it’s when my birthday is! Yes, I am in my 20’s and yes, my birthday is my favorite day of the year. Anyway, don’t forget that my Yoga + Creativity giveaway has a few days left. You can enter it here.

So I was really mad at myself for my lack of running while being out of town last week. I knew I needed to get back on track. So that is what I did!

Recovery after the Pittsburgh Half Marathon has been pretty rough. I didn’t realize how hard I pushed myself in training until it was over.

I am trying to get in to the rhythm of my marathon training schedule. It has me take rest days on Mondays and Thursdays.  

I worked a 6am-10pm shift on Memorial Day, no I’m not lying. I took my extra rest day to sleep on Tuesday. I felt fantastic after that.

Wednesday I hit the track. There were some nasty storms coming through, and I wanted to do some mile repeats. I got through two before the lightening came. My mile splits were 8:09 and 7:36. I was pretty happy with that.

Friday I went out and did my Akron Relay split! It has been almost a month since I’ve done it and I feel really bad about that. It was slower than before the race, but I’m getting back, I promise.

Saturday after work I did an easy three miles around the neighborhood. Plus I did a plank, with Dangle's help. 

Sunday I got up early since it was going to get warm quickly. Coach Jeff told me a few weeks ago I could try a mess around with the run/walk method. So I decided today I would run a 10K then start the run/walk with the remaining miles. My legs felt really good at the end! Probably better than I have felt on a 10 mile run since the week before the half marathon.

Miles for the week were 19.8. May ended up with 76 miles and I am really alright with that. I am over 400 miles for the year, and have a few big months planned with training for the Columbus Marathon! I hope to have a 100 mile June!

  2. My main goal for June is to get completely back on track for full marathon training. I have a few 5k's coming I land would like to run a good race as well

    1. I'm really excited to start Columbus Marathon training. I feel like it's been forever since I trained for a marathon!
