Columbus Marathon Training - Week Four

It is still very hard for me to believe I have been in training for four weeks already! It seems like it has just started! Guess that's a good thing since mileage is low right now!

Anyway, this week was my first cutback week. The cutback is for long runs, but it keeps my weekly mileage the same. I really like this training for that. I have never used a training with multiple cutback weeks and my legs are very happy.

This week I had five workouts totaling 31 miles. I had a track workout, some rolling hills and trail runs. My July total is 122.8 miles.

If you notice from my second run, I hit the 100 mile mark for July!!! This was one of my goals for 2014 and I'm crushing it right now. It is very possible this will be my highest mileage month to date!

In other news, the Liberty Mile is on Friday night. If you are in downtown Pittsburgh  or around the area, stop by and check it out! Some amazing runners will be competing! I'm happy to be spending time with my run friends! Here is my recap from last years race!

I have found my 14th race for 2014!! I will be racing the Lemuiex Foundation 6.6k on October 6. It is a very hilly race, please be prepared. You can read my recap from last year!

My hilarious moment of the week came when I commented on Missy's Instagram picture of her getting a order of Picky Bars. Enjoy...

I was so happy to head to Panera Bread after my long run! I was so hungry!! This week I grabbed a soup and sandwich Take 2 meal. Tomato Soup and half a Grilled Cheese. SOOOOO GOOD! It really helped the hunger pain go away!

Next week mileage goes back up. Pace is supposed to go up as well. I'm not sure how that is going to work but I will give it my best shot!

  4. Steff, are you following a particular training plan during your marathon training? If so, where/how did you find it? I have a couple, but I'm trying to come up with a better system for varying my workouts during the week...want to be as prepared as I can be! Great post! LOVE the auto-correct "incident." HA!

I guess the correct answer to this question would be, Pinterest. I know how horrible it sounds but that is where I found this one. I have the Runners World Big Book of Marathon Training and I used it for my past two marathons. I was ready for something different!
