Columbus Marathon Training: Week Nine

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! The unofficial end of summer is here, and I could not be more excited!!

This week was a crazy week. The weather was all over the place, but it was mostly just hot. I have also reached the point in my training where I am not too upset about missing a shorter run. Sometimes your body just says it's not going to happen today. I'm learning to take these cues!

I had four workouts this week totaling 38 miles. They included track, treadmill and trails. I finished August with 162.5 miles and have 806 miles for 2014.

My 162.5 miles this month is my highest monthly total EVER!!! I was so excited!

Plus, that 20 mile run (that was supposed to be 18, oops) is my first one since April 2013! Well, besides my marathon in January. It poured the entire time, like usual anymore for a long run. My first 12 miles averaged 9:32 per mile. Jeff and Chelsea met me for the final eight miles and I could care less about pace! I have never felt that good after a long run.

After the 20 miler, me Jeff and Chelsea met Kelsey at Panera! I are every single bite of my Mac and Cheese! It was amazing! We spent a few hours there! It was a really nice lunch date!

I'm racing next week! I'm super excited to race again! I'm very interested to see how my body reacts to a 13.1 mile run after a 20 mile run this week!

Do you race during marathon training? How does your body adapt?
