It's Marathon Month and a SPARKLY SOUL Giveaway!!

OMG IT’S OCTOBER!!!  When I had this crazy idea to run a fall marathon, I never thought that fall would actually get here! I signed up for Columbus the day registration opened in February. Through all the months, it has always been in the back of my mind. I have heard the most amazing things about this race and I am ready to conquer it in 19 days!

I officially started my taper this week. There are a few things I will be doing during my taper to ensure that I get to the start line healthy and ready to run.

Extra rest days – I am knocking down my training to four days a week. I have some really strange bruising around my big toe and I am trying to stay healthy at this point. In my extra rest day I will be doing a lot more hydrating and carb-loading. I am also in love with my new Stick and will be using it daily for those deep tissue pains!

Decrease mileage – I know, this is a duh. My original training plan only had my long runs decrease mileage, not the overall week. I hope to be between 25-30 miles for these weeks until the race.

Maintain speed – I am not backing off on my speed. My intensity will stay the same to prepare for the race. I want to me mentally ready.

Final preparations -  This week especially, I will be constantly looking at the course map and knowing where water stops are and where I will see my husband. I will know exactly when the terrain changes and where I should be able to pick up some speed.

I know so many of you are tapering now, or getting really close. I think we all deserve to celebrate! So does SPARKLY SOUL! As part of my ambassador program, I am able to do a giveaway for you guys! I am giving away one thin or think headband to THREE WINNERS!! Yes, you read that right, THREE! All you have to do is enter through rafflecopter!

  7. Now that I've registered for a half marathon, I'm looking at training plans, comparing it to my work travel schedule (ugh!), and increasing my mileage! I'm also getting my nutrition back on track - August and September were rough months and I'm looking forward to eating better again!
