Five Things Friday 3.20

Happy spring everyone!! We made it!! I think the first sign that it was spring is that it is barely above freezing this morning and it's not snowing, just raining!!

In typical Steff hot mess fashion, I forgot to save my Five Things Friday post on my computer, so I'm writing all of this out on my phone. Please excuse the mess, I'm  trying =)

Hubby found the most hilarious buzzfeed article about being about freezing ( and it was my inspiration for this weeks Five Things Friday!

I decided to share te five things that I think of when I hear that it's spring, in terms of running! Pretty much what I really look forward to every year in the spring.

1. The Boston Marathon: Even though I will probably never qualify, I love that I can watch the Boston Marathon on tv! I am usually at work, so I stream it at my desk. Plus twitter helps me a lot too. Everyone is so inspiring and it is usually the first warmer big marathon of the year.

2. Bright colors: I don't know about you, but almost all of my winter gear is black/dark. I love wearing fun colors to run and spring is the time for it to happen. There is something about wearing a bright color that makes things seem better!

3. Shoe retirement: My winter months shoes take such a beating. Between salt and snow they just have such a rough life. Usually withing the first few weeks of spring I retire my winter shoes for some fresh kicks. I find my winter shoes do not get the same kind of mileage, am I the only one?

4. Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend: Even though it's still a few weeks away, when the warmer weather starts showing up I think about this awesome weekend! Soon the banners should start going up around town and everyone will start getting as excited as me for the whole weekend!

5. Exploring new places: Last spring I started getting out of my comfort zone and running new routes around the city. Since I'm new to them, I'm not sure how weather affects them which means I have been running either on my treadmill or out at North Park. I cannot wait to get out and explore more of my city!

I hope you all enjoy your first day of spring! Get out there and enjoy it!

What do you most look forward to in Spring?

  1. It freaks me out when you speak of the Pittsburgh Marathon weekend in terms of WEEKS - ahhhhh it's getting so close!!!!

I Look forward to all the beautiful colors the Spring brings!

  3. I look forward to the spring and summer beers coming out :)

  4. I bought a lot of bright colored tops this winter. I joked that I was bringing my own sunshine. But it really helped pick up my mood!

  5. I can't say I have weather problems as I live in Florida and we don't get that many cold days. But I do look forward to more daylight in the Spring! It's annoying to have to start my runs during the week right after work or else risk it getting dark. I don't like to run alone in the dark.
