The Week That Was 2/23 - 3/1

Happy snowy March everyone! If it's true that March comes in like a Lion and leaves like a Lamb, I'm really looking forward to the end of the month!

This week was a cutback week after a 30+ mile week last week. My shins were a little sore all week so this could not have come at a better time.

This week, I had four workouts that totaled 20 miles. For February I ended with 90 miles and I have 202 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200 miles.

On Saturday morning I woke up to a text that a friend of mine wasn't going to be racing the Spring Thaw 10 miler. It was -1 outside and she just couldn't. I told her I would take her bib so it didn't go to waste. A little over two hours later, I was lined up at my first 10 miler. I was 5 degrees outside and I could not feel my toes.

I started the race at a 8:40 pace for the first two miles, then quickly realized I shouldn't be doing this. I ended up backing off my pace and using it as a training run. I think this was the best decision. I treadmill raced a half marathon last week and was still feeling it.

I still finished my first 10 miler. It was 15 degrees when I finished, but I did it! Chelsea did great too. We ended up spending time at Panera catching/warning up after.

I also hit a major social media milestone this week, I have 1,000 twitter followers!!

Make sure you follow me on social media! I have some giveaways starting soon, maybe as soon as the coming week! Trust me, you are going to want to stay tuned!

Stay warm and safe out there people! We are almost there! Spring is just around the corner! Run smart to make sure you get to enjoy the weather that is coming!

Have you ever raced on little notice? How did it go?

  1. I had many chances to do races on short notice, but it's a mental thing for me. I like to have a bit of notice. Glad you were able to run it though. It was bitter that day so I feel for you. Congrats on the 1000 followers

  3. Good job this week! I've never raced on little notice. I think I'd give it a whirl if it was a short race like a 5K or 10K. Congrats on 1000 followers! :)

  5. Woo hoo! Congrats on your Twitter success, my friend - that is awesome! I'm so glad you had a good week of training, but I'm ready for Spring to get here, girl. This is getting ridiculous and it's not even cold here (compared to what you have to deal with!).
