Log Off Shut Down Go Run Virtual 10K Recap

After last weeks disaster of a 10K I was super excited to see that my Log Off Shut Down Go Run virtual 10K was on tap for this weekend. My allergies have been off the chart this week so I knew I wanted to do the race on the treadmill and use it as a tempo run.

Here were my splits for the 10K:
Mile 1: 9:14
Mile 2: 8:57
Mile 3: 8:49
5K split: 27:54
Mile 4: 8:42
Mile 5: 8:34
Mile 6: 8:27
Final .2: 6:40 - yes, I cranked it.

Finishing time: 54:04. One second faster than my 10K last weekend.

Fun highlights from my race:

Mile 2: Dangle (my cat) was chasing something upstairs and ran into the basement door. I was so zoned out that it scared me! I almost busted my face off my treadmill.

Mile 3: I spilled water on myself. Not a big deal, but still something.

Mile 4: I had a hardcore sneeze fit. Sneezing on the treadmill is the strangest thing you can do. I did not fall and continued through it!

Mile 5: Thanks to the 90's pop station in Pandora I rocked out to a song I haven't heard in years, Mr Vain! It was amazing! Dangle looked at me like I was crazy.

Final .2: I was so excited that I could finish strong! I wanted to do the first .1 at a 9.0 speed (6:40) and the second at a 10.0 (6:00). I pushed the 10.0 button just like I planned, but never pushed set. So, I stayed at the 9.0, which was fine. Just another fun thing I did.

I am so happy I had this race. Even though I'm not feeling 100%, I proved to myself I could do better than the horrible experience from last weekend. That one second never felt so good!

Disclaimer: I was given a free entry to this virtual race by Gone For A Run. All opinions are my own.

Have you ran a virtual race before? Do you complete them on the treadmill or outside?

  1. Great recap! I particularly enjoyed all the highlights from each mile! I've never done a virtual run, but if I did, I'd make the most of it!

  2. I feel your pain with the allergies, it's been a nightmare for me this week. Glad you were still able to get your 10K in
