Akron Half Marathon Training: Week One

I go into every training plan giving it my 100% undivided attention. There is no surprises on what it coming up, it's all out in front of me. All I have to do it put in the work. 


This week and the following two are going to be crazy with our anniversary and my birthday, but I am determined to make the time to do everything I need to do. 


This week, I had five runs that totaled 27 miles. For June, I have 48.1 miles and 520 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200 miles. 






I also did a 20 minute core workout and a half hour kettle bell workout. Let me tell you, the lady on the kettle bell DVD was very mean to me. I haven't done any sort of upper body workout in almost 10 years. Yeah, I felt it! 


Friday night I got to spectate the Riverview 5K. It was Joe's first ever 5K! He has done a one mile, 6.6K and a half marathon before, but he was excited for a 5K! I also FINALLY got to meet Gretchen from Gretch Runs and her fiancĂ©e, Dan. 


It poured the entire race and of course stopped as soon as everyone finished. 


Today Joe and I are traveling to Columbus for the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view! It was a spur of the moment idea and we are so excited! Plus, we went outlet shopping on Saturday for my birthday! I celebrate all month for my birthday, but this year is a little hard since my birthday is on a Wednesday and I have to work. Booooooooo. 


I'm excited to race the Peace Love Run 5K next weekend! This race is my current 5K PR so I'm hoping for good things!

  1. Woo HOO! Great week! Congratulations again to Joe..he did so great on a tough course! Hope you don't mind if I steal that pic of the storm..dan and my mom were afraid to get pictures because of the rain! It was great meeting you :) hope to see you soon!
