Akron Half Marathon Training: Week 11

Let's first off start by saying I'm sorry for the delay in this post. This weekend was a little crazy, and I just ran out of time. I started this blog to keep me honest about my training, and by posting my weekend recaps I feel much better about everything.

Okay, now that I got that out, I had a really good training week. After the awful week that was week ten, I was very pleased with how I recovered.

This week I had five workouts that totaled 36 miles. For August I have 106.2 miles and 816 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200 miles.

This week was incredibly bittersweet because I did my last track workout of this training cycle. I even hit my splits correctly which was the biggest win for me. I just can't believe that I have reached the point where I have no more track workouts. This training has been tough on me and that I've made it to this point is a huge sigh of relief.

Slightly scary moment of the week is that I was starting to feel some pain in my stress fracture area over the weekend. Not really pain, but pressure. I think it was a combination of being on my feet for 15 hours and then doing 15 miles - also the fact that I have to wear not normal shoes to the new job. Either way, I will be doing an ice bath tonight and monitoring it. It felt fine last night and this morning, so I'm hoping it's nothing.

A big thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Sparkly Soul Ambassador contest! I'm not sure if I won, but check my Five Things Friday post and give your girl a like/comment! I really appreciate it!

I am still in shock that I am 32 days away from race day! Soon I will be cutting out all alcohol (not that I drink a lot) and soda (wahhhh Mountain Dew). Don't you worry, there will be tons of both at the finish line in Akron!

Who else is starting to get to the random aches and pains of training? What hurts?

  1. Oh no! I hope that you don't have any more problems and that the ice bath will take care of everything for you. I mentioned to you that my foot was bothering me, and luckily after lots of ice baths and compression it seemed to disappear (thank goodness!). Hoping for a speedy recovery for you as well!! Great week of workouts girl!

  2. Oh, lord...every time I get close to a race, SOMETHING starts hurting; I think, for me, most of it is mental - ha! Changing shoes would definitely create some different feels for you, I think, Steff; my vote is that everything is going to be okay and please take care of yourself!! Nothing hurts...I don't want to talk about it. ;) Love ya!

  3. My ankle started to hurt for the first time since Pittsburgh and I had a panic attack about it on Saturday. Of course I've been forgetting to ice so that's my priority for this week!

  5. Oh, I have wine the night before a race. It relaxes me and I sleep a little better!
