Akron Half Marathon Training: Week 12

What a fantastic week! We got our first taste of cooler temps here in Western Pa, and it was exactly what my soul needed! I had some glorious workouts and even caught up on some sleep! One major problem I have dealt with this week is being so scatterbrained! I'll talk more about it later.

This week I had five workouts that totaled 33 miles. I finished August with 141.2 miles and have 851 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200 miles.

During my 14 mile run, I noticed around mile 10 I was putting together a nicely paced run. I ended up clocking a 1:56 half marathon. I have been running my LSR at a 9:15-9:30 pace, so to feel comfortable at a sub 9:00 pace is amazing. It was even a little warmer at the end, and I could still hold it together. It was awesome.

So like I said, I have been incredibly scatterbrained all week. I forgot to clock out twice at work this week, I left my phone on the couch and I tried to make coffee this morning but I didn't put any coffee in the maker. I can't make this up, it's been so bizarre!

I bought a new hand held water bottle this week. My old one is so gross and it was really time for it to go. I haven't gotten to try it yet, but I am looking forward to it.

I have been trying to figure out when to start breaking in my race day shoes. I only have about 175 miles on my current pair, but I have over 100 miles left in training. I think I am going to wear my new shoes on my mid week longer runs, just to break them in. That way I will save some miles on my current pair and get some more life out of my last two pairs of Wave Rider 17s.

Onward and upward! September is coming which makes everything that much more real! I'm looking forward to cooler temps and long sleeves!!

How many miles did you finish with in August?
