Sole Sister Seven Mile Virtual Run Recap

Last week I had the opportunity to participate in the Gone For A Run Sole Sister Seven Mile Race. It was one of the races in the virtual series they are doing. I have never done a seven mile race before, and I was really looking forward to the new distance. My favorite race distance is 10K, so this should be right up my alley.

I received my race packet in the mail with my bib, tank, shoe charm and medal. I also got super lucky that I already had a seven miler planned in my training. Talk about meant to be!

This is my first virtual race I have gotten to do outside! I usually run in to a bunch of my friends while I'm out at the park, so I guess you can say I was running with my sole sisters. This time, I had the park pretty much to myself.

This was also the first day in a very long time where the weather was perfect. I mean perfect. Temps were in the high 60s and cloudy with zero humidity. It was beautiful and so needed for my soul. I felt like I was flying for the first five miles.

As I was cutting through the boathouse parking lot I saw Chelsea. We decided we were going to run a little together. Even though I was putting together a great time, this race was about running with my sole sisters, and that is exactly what I did. We ended up running a mile and a half together, catching up in the process.

I finished my final half mile really strong and completed my first ever seven mile race in 1:02:37.

Here are my splits, course map and elevation chat!

This race also helped me fill in the last of my Gone For A Run PR medal holder!

I really liked this distance, like I thought o would. I am for sure a middle distance runner. I have loved seeing everyone's pictures and recaps from this race. It really made it feel like we were running together!

Disclaimer: I was given a free entry into this virtual race by Gone For A Run. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever done a seven mile race? What is your favorite race distance?
