Akron Half Marathon Training: Week 13

It was my peak week! I have to admit, I was a little intimidated. It has been almost a year since I ran more than 35 miles in a week, but I was ready to give it my all. Plus we had an added element of awful heat and humidity.

This week I ran 38 miles. I have done all of those miles in September and have 889 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200 miles.

August was a really solid month for me. I am very proud of how I did!

I was smart this week and did a lot of treadmill running. I also started to break in my race shoes. This way I can continue to get some life out of my current shoes and extend my beloved Wave Rider 17s.

During my outside three mile run, Joe decided we should do it together. He wanted me to pace him for the miles. The first two miles I paced 9:27 and 9:30, but Joe went blowing pass me! So, when he started slowing down, I returned the favor and left him in my dust! He wanted me to talk about this on the blog.

I got a new watch this week. Same Soleus, but Amazon replaced mine since the USB was corroded. They even sent me my new one overnight so I could have it. Seriously, best customer service award!

I have to apologize for the lack of blogging, life has been incredibly busy. Never fear my dear readers, I have some stuff coming! Also, so fun race ideas are starting to come together! I'm super excited for the months to come!

How did you do in August?

  1. Great week Steff! I can completely relate to the Joe story..every time I run with Dan we stay together the whole time then he sprints at the end and says that he beats me. He doesn't understand that I slowed my regular pace down to stay with him and just can't sprint. Men! I completely agree about Amazon..amazing customer service. Hopefully this one will hold up :)

  2. Great week and great month!!! Smart move to do more treadmill running last week. The humidity was a killer and made outside running not fun at all. Keep up the good work. Oh that is awesome that they replaced your watch. I love seeing that there is still company's that care about the runner
