The Week That Was - 10/5 - 10/11

This week I wanted to focus on mileage. With marathon training startin soon, mentally I needed a 30 mile week. The only thing that could have prevented that was a very strange pain.

When I went to bed last Sunday night I had this HUGE pop come from my knee. I just figured it was from recovering on the couch all day. When I woke up Monday morning the top of my knee was doubled in size. Every time I took a step I wanted to cry. I was terrified. When I got home from work I iced, compressed and elevated my leg. It must have worked because I woke up Tuesday morning with nothing. Sometimes your body tells you things, LISTEN! This could have been bad, but thankfully it wasn't.

So after the scare, I ran 30 miles this week. For October I have 52.2 miles and 1,032 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200 miles.

Plans are still coming together for the December Run Challenge! I am so excited to get to run with you all again! Keep it in the back of your mind, tons of fun new prizes up for grabs this year!

There were so many races this weekend! I need to congratulate Chelsea and Gretchen for setting new half marathon PRs! I spent most of Sunday morning after my run refreshing Twitter to see how everyone was doing. Since I'm racing five out of seven weeks, it was fun to play spectator this week!

This week will bring a lot of rest and recovery. I want to give myself the best shot at a half marathon PR. I will be spending a lot of time on the couch with Dangle, drinking tons of Nuun and eating all the carbs. Nothing new. ZERO!

It was a pretty slow week for me, adjusting to my new job, so I'm sorry this week wasn't very exciting. Hopefully I can have some fun stuff to update you all on soon enough!

  1. Thank you for the shoutout :) And I'm so happy to hear that your knee is ok...that had me worried!! Good thinking on taking care of it right away. Sometimes your body is just out of wack and needs a good rest!! Good luck this upcoming week and crush that race :D

  2. So, after the weird knee thing...nothing? That's so great but also weird, right? Good grief; I'm glad it worked out - ha! Bodies are so strange; I'm just thankful mine sort of works. Great job on your training, Steff; I'm glad you'll be taking a little rest time and getting ready to BUST OUT another awesome race - woo hoo! You're on fire!! I hope things are going well at the new job; you'll have to give us an update.

    1. Nothing. Not a thing. It was the strangest thing! I think we have decided it was my quad more than my knee. My quads were still killing me for my race last week so it could have been that.
