The Week That Was - 9.28/10.4

This week I was suppose to be recovering. If you read earlier in the week, you know that didn't fully happen. Even though I didn't get in a full week of training, I still made the miles count.

Plus, fall is finally here! Also a lot of rain and flooding earlier in the week. It has been a week of transitions and looking to the future.

This week I had four workouts that totaled 27.2 miles. For October I have 22.2 miles and 1,001 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200 miles.

I will be sure to recap the Penguins 6.6k later in the week. Spoiler alert: it's was awesome!

Marathon training is approaching! I have started to think about goals and feel very lost. I know what I should be able to do, but training can be difficult. This will be my third consecutive year running a January marathon - I know what winter training is like!

With marathon training also comes shoes. I am officially on my last pair of my favorite Wave Rider 17s. I really didn't like the 18s so I decided to take a ride up to Mojo and had Caitlin help me out. I really like the Wave Sayonara 3, but I'm gonna wait until the WR19 comes out and see what I like best. Luckily I have some time since I only have about 100 miles on my current shoes.

I have started to put some ideas together for the December Run Challenge! I love hosting this challenge and I hope you all enjoyed participating! I'm taking ideas/input for this year so please let me know what you would like to see!

Next week is another higher mileage week. I want to crush this week to keep my confidence up for Buffalo Creek. Just two short weeks until I give this another shot!

How did you welcome in October? Are you racing this month?

  1. Can't wait to hear about your race! I was driving on 376 and saw all the runners going across the bridge...If it wasn't a highway I would have stopped and got a pic..so cool looking! I'm excited to join your December challenge and it'll be my first one! Good luck with higher mileage and make it count!

  2. You should crush Buffalo Creek with the way your training and races have went. I am pretty excited for the race and I am glad so many of us are doing it. Hopefully we all do well

  3. Ugh, trying out new shoes is the worst, right? I don't know why manufacturers can't just leave the shoes that I like ALONE!! What was wrong with them? Obviously, they don't ask me. Congrats on your awesome weekend - woo hoo!!!
