Louisiana Marathon Training: Week One

I feel like it has been so long since I was actually following a training plan! Well, I guess it has been almost two months. Crazy! 


Anyway, this was my first official week of marathon training. I have a pretty solid base going into it, so I wasn't concerned about a slightly condensed training. I haven't "trained" for a marathon in over a year, it's a little strange!


This week I ran 34 miles. For November I have ran 75.9 miles and 1,135 miles towards my 2015 goal of 1,200. 




I got new shoes this week! After many attempts at trying to find more Wave Rider 17s in my size, I think my luck has run out. A few weeks ago I tried on the WR19 and liked them a lot more than the 18s. 


They are a little heavier than my 17s and the laces are CRAZY long, but I like them. They will work just fine for marathon training. I will probably switch back to the Wave Sayonara 3 after my marathon because I did like them more. 


I got to spend yesterday down at my undergrad Alma Mater, California University of Pa. They were raising the women's basketball national championship banner. It was also alumni day, so I made a stop at my college tv station where I spend most of my time in college. 


Besides that it was a crazy week of adjusting to being back at work, planning some trips and getting adjusted to marathon training. I'll be out of town next weekend so the weekly recap might be a little late. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Don't forget about signing up for the December Run Challenge!

  2. Good luck with the training this time around. I just signed up for another half marathon, so I will be getting back on a plan as well. I like those shoes, well at least the way they look. I am not a mizuno fan

  3. So cool that you were able to spend some time at your alma mater, Steff; I love these pics! I'm glad that you've had a (sort of) break from dedicated training; I think it will definitely help you, leading up to the marathon, and I know you're going to do great!! Keep it up, girl!!
