Louisiana Marathon Training: Week Seven

I wish I could have had some awesome first week of taper post to share with you all. Instead, this is what you get. 


On Monday I started getting the really bad pressure in my foot again. This time, it wouldn't go away. I iced it and did what I usually do. The only problem was it didn't go away. The pressure was so bad at work the next day I was near tears. I was finally ready to admit something might be wrong. I talked to a friend of mine in the medical field and she was quite convinced I was having a stress reaction. I was instructed to get my boot and rest. 

So that is what I did. 


At the beginning of the week I would have told you I was dropping to the half in Louisiana. There would have been no way I could have finished a marathon upright. I was very at peace with the decision if it had to be done. 


As of today, I'm feeling much better. I walked without the boot on for the first time with no pain. The bruising is going down and mentally I'm doing better. I've also made sure to keep my diet in check, no binging on crappy foods to make me feel better. I've had more water than ever. 

So what does this mean for my race? I'm still not sure. It's a game time decision at this point. I'm getting some dental work done early in the week so I had planned on taking a few days off originally. If I'm still feeling alright I am going to run again on Wednesday. Just a few miles on the treadmill. Nothing crazy. 

If next week goes well then I am running a full marathon. It might not be the sub-4 I had hoped for, but I still think I can do pretty well. If things turn for the worse, I'll be dropping to the half and then going to the doctor. Let's not think those thoughts and hope it just keeps improving.
