The First Two Weeks Of February

I haven't done a Sunday weekly recap in a while. The reason being I haven't done much in the past month since my marathon. Dealing with this foot issue has sidelined me for almost four weeks, but I started moving a little last week.

In the past two weeks I have ran 10 miles. Most of which were on my treadmill, but I did manage a five mile run to test out some new shoes. I'll get to that in a little bit. 

On Tuesday I ran two miles on the treadmill and it was the first pain free miles I have had in about two months. The greatest thing is, I have been pain free since! 


Alright, so the shoes. During my second run in my Wave Sayonara's my right foot went numb. Not good. Maybe I just needed to get them outside. Well, it was outside I discovered something, my shoes were too small. 

With my new shoe size I had a few more options of shoes to try on. I ended up really liking the Saucony Zealots. 

So pretty!

I also ended up with a pair of Saucony Ride.

I will rotate them. The Ride will be for my longer runs and the Zealots will be for speed/tempo work. I haven't decided which I like more on the treadmill yet. I haven't worn a shoe other than Mizuno in years and I'm shocked how much I like these. 

There is about a month until Rock 'n' Roll DC and I'm excited to have my sights set on something again. It should be a really fun trip and I look forward to another run on that course. 

I'm still not planning any goals except to have fun with running. I discovered that as different storm systems roll through, my foot tends to act up. I have to remember to take some extra rest if I need it. There is no shame. 

Weather looks to be pretty good at the end of the week so I am hoping to get outside a few times. My main goal is to have a 10 miler the week before DC. I think I can do it, and I will feel a lot better going into the race. 

Well, there is your update folks! I'm slowly getting there. It's been an interesting month for sure, but I am happy to be doing what's best for me.

  1. Glad your runs have been pain free lately! It sucks to have scary injuries. Hopefully they continue to go well until your next race! I'm doing the Princess half this weekend and super excited! It's my first half of the season.

  2. I hope you start getting more pain free runs in! I feel your pain with recovery mode. I have really only been trusting the treadmill to keep my pace low and steady. I was afraid to hit the pavement. But now that it's brutally cold here and the sidewalks are full of snow, it will still be the treadmill for awhile. Here's to a continued speedy recovery!

    1. Thank you! I have a wonderful relationship with my treadmill so it's no problem, especially in winter!

  3. I just got the Saucony Ride! I wore them for my 5K and absolutely love! First time not buying Nike and I couldn't be happier.

    1. I'm really digging them! I think I need to get them on the road to get the laces correct!
