The Week That Was: 5.2 - 5.8

This week I wanted to take a step back but not too far. My quads were still a little wrecked from Flying Pig, so I took each run easier to recover.

I took Monday and Tuesday off completely. I used this time to rest and get some other things done. Mainly laundry from the weekend.

Wednesday I decided to head out with the Mojo Run Group for a few miles. My legs felt pretty awesome and I started way too fast. I knew I had to tone it back or I wouldn't be able to run much the rest of the week. It was just nice to be able to go to the group run. We ran four miles and I was happy with that.

Thursday I did a strength and core workout for an hour. It was rainy and miserable outside so staying in was a great decision. My arms also remembered what it was like to kettle bell. It's been a few weeks, man did I feel it! Dangle decided to help as well.

Friday was another rest day. Joe and I had date night and needed to get some things for a wedding, baby shower and engagement party. We had to of been free entertainment to the people in Kohl's in the baby department. We had no idea what we were looking for. Seriously, for people who don't have kids, shopping for baby stuff is really hard! I felt like I deserved a beer.

Saturday I got to head out for a quick five mile run. Kept things super easy with the 4:1 intervals. There was a storm rolling through and I was thrilled to not get soaked. I love warm weather running so much and this time of the year is my favorite! I don't care how long runs take me, just that I can be outside.

Also on Saturday I received two books from VeloPress for being on the Rock 'n' Blog team. I am always looking for new strength workouts and have been really curious about the Hansons training methods. I can't wait to dive in!

Sunday is long run day. I wanted between 10-12 miles. Gosh it was beautiful. Not a cloud in the sky, around 50 degrees. It may have been perfect. Again I did the 4:1 intervals to keep me slower. I really felt great. I never felt winded or lagging. It was nice. It was also nice to see long run paces that I was doing last summer during my crazy half marathon training.

Weekly Total: 19 Miles
May Mileage: 32.4 Miles

In the next few weeks I think I am going to be focusing on building a better base. Whether it be getting speed workouts in or more miles, I'll have to figure it out. I'm also traveling every other week until the end of June so I'm going to have to stay motivated and continuing on this journey. It should all be a bunch of fun, which is what it's all about!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! I hope you could enjoy your day!!
