Rock 'n' Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon Training: Week One

It's here! I started training for my "goal race" of the fall! I only use the quotes because I'm not focusing so much on a time, just more on the event. It felt like so long since I had been regularly training. I was super excited for this week.


Monday is my usual core workout day. I decided to start over on my "Quick Strength For Runners" book. 

Tuesday I had to work a high school volleyball match up at Slippery Rock so I took to the track up there. The normal track is closed for renovations and I remembered there was a concrete oval I could use. 

1 mile warm up
800 X 4 with a lap recovery
(3:36 3:34 3:36 3:36)
1 mile cool down

Five miles total. 


Wednesday was another rest day running but I did a strength workout. Hubs also surprised me with an early anniversary gift! I told him if he didn't get me a new Seth Rollins shirt we would have problems. 


Thursday was an easy three miles with four strides. I ended up falling asleep for two hours after work (oops but amazing) which lead me to doing this workout on my neighborhood hills. Boy was it hot and hilly! I also got to try out my new Saucony Ride 9. This shoe is WAY BETTER than last years model. Especially because I had to retire my last ones in under 200 miles.


Friday was an actual rest day. Hubs and I went to dinner and to the driving range. I shocked him by playing really well! It was kinda fun!

Saturday I woke up early for my easy three miles. It was going to be a hot one so I went to the local trail. There were tons of people out! It was crazy. I'm really glad I only had three miles. 


When I got home I had a package from my girl Briana. Guys! How awesome was this package!?!

Yeah, my friends get me. 

Sunday is long run day. I was so excited for this run because I was going to do it with Carrie!!! We haven't gotten to long run together in a really long time and we had a blast! Sure it was sweaty, sunny and crowded but it was so nice to be out there together again. We ran 11 miles, which is the longest for either of us since Flying Pig weekend. It was also at a great pace for us!


Weekly Total: 22 Miles
June Total: 26 Miles

This week really felt great. All I want to do is build on this and continue moving forward!
