Run The World Book Review

By the title of my blog, you can guess that I am a runner. The thing I love most about running is the places it can take me and the people I can meet. I received an email from TLC Books about an opportunity to be apart of a Summer Book Tour about both of my passions. It was Run The World by Becky Wade.

Becky Wade is a 2012 graduate of Rice University. An All-American athlete, she received the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, which required her to spend a year outside of the United States. She decided she would explore the running community around the world and experience different aspects of running history.

Through her 3,500 mile and 22 country journey, Becky met some amazing people and took part in some once in a lifetime opportunities. From watching the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London to getting to help at a training camp in Ethiopia and all of her journeys in between.

Becky also helps us really feel her journey by including a recipe from each of her hosts at the end of each chapter. She really took this journey to heart, and I loved every step of the way. She also is very honest with us by letting us know how many miles she runs in each country (she ended the year with 3,504!).

I'm going to be honest with you all, I finished the book in two days. I couldn't put it down. Everything that Becky accomplished within that year is incredible. She got to race some historic races in a few different countries, but that was not what the year was about. It was about finding out why different parts of the world enjoy running. Whether it be for physical fitness, friendship or business - Becky explored them all.

Above all, I could feel her passion for the sport and what she was doing. It seemed only natural that after this incredible journey she landed a sponsorship with Asics and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trails with a win in her first marathon (2:30).

I am so jealous of Becky's incredible journey, but I am so glad she allowed us to take it with her by writing Run The WorldBecky, if you are ever in Pittsburgh, let me know! I would love to give you a tour of my city on foot!

If you want to connect with Becky, check her out on Twitter and Instagram. If you are interested in reading Run The World for yourself, you can purchase it here
