The Week That Was: 10/3 - 10/9

This week was the week. The week I needed. If you read my post a few days ago (you can read it here) this week I decided to not be afraid. I was not going to let my fear of going faster and getting hurt again get in my way. It was time to face my fears!

After my regular Monday rest day, I was ready for Tuesday. I just needed to do it.

Tuesday I met Kelsey to run five miles together. Before she got there I did my one mile speed/pain test. I ran a 7:25 on a not flat surface. Then Kelsey and I chatted for five miles and enjoyed a random pretty warm day. Six miles total for the day.

Wednesday was another C25K group run. We ran a little over a mile and a half and then I joined the Mojo Wednesday night group run. It has been a hot minute since I got to run with the group, since I normally work Wednesday nights. Man, on a hilly four mile run I was thrilled with an 8:37 pace and keeping up with some of the guys! Five and a half miles total for the day.

Thursday I got our of work super early and Joe had the day off so we took a quick trip to the outlets and then rode our bikes! I did much better this time. We rode five and a half mile and the padded shorts helped so much. We had a lot of fun riding together. I know it will take some time for me to get better, but it's fun to be a beginner again!

I was thrilled for a rest day of Friday. I picked up an extra shift at the running store and just relaxed.

Saturday was the C25K group run. We did two miles together and then I did another mile solo. I wanted to do a few more miles but the sky looked crazy dark and I really didn't want to get rained on with having to work after. I really love working with the C25K group. They are so much fun and ask some awesome questions.

Sunday was my long run. I planned for 10 miles. It was chilly in the morning, about 45 degrees. My normal running partner was out and the usual faces I see on my long run were running Chicago. I almost went back to bed.

Glad I didn't! I had an incredible long run. I negative split the first six miles and then kept a steady pace for the last four. I averaged a 8:48 pace which is one of my best double digit runs of the year. I wasn't even winded. It was amazing. I wish I could have ran all day.

October Total: 26 Miles

We leave for St. Louis on Friday!! I am so excited to visit a new city and have some new adventures! Who knows, maybe this streak of good running will continue!
