The Week That Was: 9/26 - 10/2

Despite building a base the past few weeks, I got a lot accomplished this week. I knew if I felt good all week I could start looking towards the future. A lot was riding on this week.

After my usual rest day on Monday, Tuesday I wanted to get outside for a little run. I was delightfully surprised that it was still a little warm outside, but not humid. An easy mile and a half with a strength workout to follow.

Wednesday was my first day of the C25K program! Since it was the first week and the workout was super easy, I took the time and ran four miles before everyone came. I also run tested the new Saucony Triumph 3 during those four miles. While I'm not a super big fan of soft shoes, I love the update to this shoe. Not as wide and feels a little more put together. I would still size up at least a half size in this shoe, but if you like a softer ride, give them a shot!

For this weeks C25K workout we did a five minute warm up walking. Then run 60 seconds and walk 90 seconds for 20 minutes. It was about a mile and a half total. So that gave me 5.5 miles for the day.

I knew I couldn't run five days in a row (long run Friday and C25K again on Saturday) I took Thursday for a rest day. I made the decision to do one crazy thing. I stepped on the scale again. I have been doing a lot better with watching what I eat, since I'm not running as much. Super good news, I've lost the weight I put on! I feel so much better about myself and more like myself. Now I know to be more aware of what I'm doing.

Friday was my long run. I was going to be down at Cal on Saturday and did not want to long run on Sunday. I had eight miles on tap. I decided to go back to the one mile loop and just take it easy. I'm glad I went in with that mindset because the head wind was rough! Even when I switched directions, the head wind was still there! The best part about this, there was zero pain. None. I can't wrap my brain around this. I don't understand how I could be in so much pain and then it's gone. I'm not complaining, I just don't want to get my hopes up.

The other cool thing that happened on Friday, I won the weekly twitter contest Oiselle hosts! While I'm not on the Volee team anymore, I still love my flystyle!

Saturday morning I met up with the C25K group and we did our mile and a half workout again. After, I went down to Cal U to see the STOMPING the Vulcans put on Slippery Rock. I had the best time! My friend K and I just really enjoyed ourselves, and I got to chat with my friend Mike!

Sunday I made the decision to rest. I could have ran 3.5 miles to reach 20 for the week, but I didn't want to make a dumb mistake and run five days. So I sat. It was amazing. I slept in, watched some tv, did some laundry and cleaned out my dresser. FIVE BAGS OF CLOTHES! I couldn't believe it!

September Total: 74 Miles

Despite everything, September was a great month. Two half marathons in interesting conditions and an injury scare. I did have about 20 more miles than August, which is great. The biggest things I accomplished is that I'm pain free. I just can't believe it. I'm going to continue to listen to my body. I am planning a 10 mile long run this weekend and hopefully another bike ride!

  1. No races planned just yet but I hope to do 2-3 this coming year!! I also cleaned out some drawers/closet from spring summer items I don't need or want anymore...such a GREAT feeling!
