Five Things Friday - 12.23

There is only one Friday left in 2016! Wow, what a year! I've been highlighting some of my favorite blog things of 2016 the past few weeks, but I think it's time to look to 2017.

I made no goals for 2016 except to have new experiences and tons of fun. I accomplished that easily. I talked before how the end of 2016 made me feel like I wasted an awesome end of 2015 with not racing in 2016. It's been really hard to make goals for 2017 when you go a whole year without them. So, here are my five goals for 2017!

1. 1,000 miles - I want to get back to an actual distance goal in 2017. I have no idea what my end number of 2016 will be, but I know it isn't a lot. I'm aware its because I took about a month off to heal some nagging injuries, but still. I ran over 1,300 miles in 2015 and I wonder if I will have done half of that in 2016.

2. Sub-1:50 half marathon - That's it. That is the goal. I'm working very hard on my Princess Half Marathon training, and I'm training for a 1:45 pace. I don't know what fall race I will be running, so if I can accomplish this time goal in February (so I have a better proof of time for the Disney Marathon) I can enjoy my fall race while in training for Disney in January 2018.

3. Finish the Pittsburgh Marathon - Yes, finish. I don't want time goals. I want to finish. I want to have a better experience than the first time I completed the Pittsburgh Marathon. I am so excited for you all to take the journey with me. If you want to register use promo code RUBEL17 for $10 off the half or full marathon.

4. Attempt a 5K PR - The 5K was the only distance I PRed in this year. It was only by four seconds and it was in the middle of a long run. I'm hoping after Pittsburgh I can run some fun 5K's and give the PR another shot.

5. Complete a Triathlon - There it is! I am committing myself to completing a sprint tri! There is one at North Park in August that has you swim in the pool and that is what I have my sights on. So here is to a year of getting over my fear of the water and diving right in! (lol pun)

So that is it! Five goals I plan on hitting. I hope they push me to finish out my 20's in the best way possible. Thank you all again for taking this strange but exciting journey with me in 2016. I have loved getting to meet so many of you. Cheers to 2017!

What is your scary but exciting 2017 goal?
