Five Things Friday - 12.30

It is here! The final Friday of 2016! While I didn't have any big goals for 2016, I did accomplish my goal of having fun and finding my love of running again. The people I got to interact with through the past 12 months has been everything I even dreamed of. I am truly honored to call you all friends!

Now that I got that out of the way, I have to share five things with you to close 2016! Here are five final numbers on my running in 2016.

1. Miles - I have hit the 800 mile mark, but I do have a few more miles to do before the year ends! Best Month July (100 Miles) Worst Month February (33.5 Miles)

2. Races - 1 One Mile
                 8 5K
                 1 7K
                 1 10K
                 9 Half Marathon
                 1 Marathon

3. Favorite New Gear - Saucony Ride 9. When I needed to find a new pair of shoes I had to start all over. After a second stress fracture in the same spot, I discovered my favorite Mizuno Wave Riders just didn't fit correctly anymore. I went through a ton of shoes and the Saucony Ride 9 have been my staple. I am on my second pair (I had a pair of Ride 8) and I have no plans on taking them out of my rotation. I also ran in Hoka Clifton 2, New Balance Zante and Saucony Freedom ISO.

A close second is my Garmin 230 and third is the ProCompression Elite Marathon socks.

Pretty much all of my favorite gear from 2016 in one shot

4. Best Races - I had an accidental 5K PR this year! On June 19, my six year anniversary, in Delaware I ran a 23:34 which was good for a four second 5K PR. It was in the middle of a long run and I was shocked. I had no plans to PR, it was going to be a tempo run. If you would have told me this time last year that a random 5K in Delaware would be my new PR (with no medal and not even placing in my age group) I would have never believed you.

I'm adding a second race in here because it really meant so much to me. Rock 'n' Roll St. Louis Half Marathon was one of the toughest but most emotional races of 2016 for me. After bonking hard in my half before hand in Philly, cutting 17 minutes off that time on a REALLY HILLY AND WARM COURSE caused some tears at the finish line. It really boosted my confidence and was exactly what I needed.

5. Favorite Race Memories - I tried to come up with one memory that was my favorite, but it really was two, from my first and last race weekends of the year.

At the Louisiana Marathon I will never forget my friends waiting for me at the finish line. I seriously never felt anything like that at a finish line. It wasn't just our friends that we went down to visit, it was their friends who treated us like family the whole weekend and then pacer Joe waiting for me at the finish line, 29 minutes after he finished. Seriously. It was all so amazing.

At Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon I got to meet so many amazing people and had such an awesome time. I got to run all 13.1 miles with my husband and Kat. My husband is my biggest fan and doesn't ever think my goals are crazy. Kat and I formed the most amazing friendship through our Rock 'n' Blog travels that getting to end 2016 together seemed like the perfect thing. Hubs and I renewed our vows during the race and Kat came with us. The entire experience was worth running for almost three hours and I am so lucky to have had that experience with everyone!

2016 was the year I needed to find my love of running again. I had some incredible experiences and met some amazing people. I am very excited to see what 2017 has in store!

What was your favorite running moment of 2016?
