Princess Half Marathon Training: Week Seven

There was so much this week that happened outside of running, that at times it was hard to focus. Being more than half way done with training has really scared me, and I think this week reflected that.

Monday I finally got to ride my trainer for 20 minutes and I did a half hour kettle bell workout. I will tell you my legs felt weird after I finished on the trainer. I really need to be doing this once a week.

The running theme of this training has been weird Tuesday workouts. This Tuesday was no exception. I was suppose to do a two mile warm up, five HMP miles and a mile cool down. Well, after my two miles is just dumped rain. The radar showed a thunderstorm could be coming through. 

Kelsey texted me and asked if I wanted to run somewhere else with her. It didn't look like rain so I said sure.

I ran one paced mile (7:34) by myself before she got there and got poured on again. Together we did five miles. So, I had a little over eight miles for the day with three outfit changes.

Wednesday my legs felt wrecked all day. Super fatigued and I wanted to take a rest day. I knew I wasn't going to be able to run Sunday so I really needed to get my six miles in, and some of them needed to be at HMP. Well, I made it three on the treadmill with two at HMP (8:00) before I stopped. It was too much. I finished my core workout for the week and just rolled.

I was feeling much better on Thursday and the weather was getting nicer. I had eight miles on the schedule with four at MP (8:47, 8:41, 8:20, 8:33) and one at HMP (8:01). It felt really good. I felt really strong and I could even recognize that 8:20 mile was quicker. I kinda zoned out and pictured myself in the race. Good to know I can comfortably hit 8:20 since that will be the average pace needed for a sub-1:50.

Friday I rested. Thank goodness! Hubs and I watched some of our DVR and sat on the couch. Man, it was amazing.

Saturday was long run. It was in the 60s in January!! I ran in a tank and shorts. It was the perfect race condition test! I had 13.1 miles on the plan with miles 8-10-12 at HMP (8:00, 7:52, 7:55). I ran a 1:57 half overall, which was my second fastest half of 2016. (1:56 at Chicago).

I don't know what the deal is but I can hit 7:40 easily and 8:10 but 8:00 is not a pace I can find. I'm getting really frustrated with these HMP miles and I know it needs to be done, but I only have four weeks left to figure it out.

Saturday night hubs got us front row seats to a WWE Live Event. It was the best time!

I got to high five a bunch of superstars, interact with Chris Jericho, make Roman Reigns laugh at my sign and the icing on the cake, TAKE A PICTURE WITH SETH ROLLINS!

Yes, I was shaking and he loved my sign. Such an incredible experience. I can't thank my husband enough for the awesome idea!

Sunday we slept in and went to the Penguins game. We got tickets as a Christmas gift and man I was exhausted. So much excitement in two days. I did roll again and do a hip strengthening. I needed it for sure.

Weekly Total: 32.4 Miles
January Total: 100.7 Miles

I am so excited that I already hit 100 miles for the month! I feel really good overall and I'm excited for the next four weeks. The coming week is a cutback long run week so I will be able to focus more on speed during the week.
