Recovery Week/Eye Update

It's been a week since the Pittsburgh Marathon. I promise I am going to recap everything this week for you guys. Last week didn't exactly go according to plans.

Monday I had my follow up at the eye doctor. The swelling had gone down enough that the doctor could see a little more in my eye. He noticed two weird bumps and they needed to be drained. So, I was going to get my eye ball cut in to on Wednesday. Yep, we have made it to this point.

Tuesday I went to work and then slept the rest of the day. I felt just terrible. The pain wasn't stopping and I just didn't know what else to do. Plus, I was kinda trying not to think about getting my eye ball cut in to. I was going to be awake and just didn't understand what was going to happen.

Wednesday came and boy was it an experience. I got the procedure done and slept all day. I pretty much woke up to drink some water and adjust sleeping positions. I do not want to gross you all out, but my eye was swollen shut for awhile and I got to wear a sweet patch for a little bit!

Thursday I actually felt better. The pain I had been having wasn't really there but I looked like I got punched in the face. I didn't sleep as much but still wasn't eating very much. Carrie stopped by with some snacks and it was so sweet.

Friday was my follow up appointment and I have to admit, I was expecting a "things are going well! we will see you in a few weeks" but that's not what I got. I was sent for a host of rheumetology tests to knock out any underlying issues. I have to go back on Wednesday for a follow up and maybe a biopsy. So in all, it hasn't been a fun week.

Saturday I made a big adventure out of the house when hubs took me to dinner. He even made me take off my sunglasses which I was really self conscious about. I'm still a little bruised and my eye is red. I just hate answering questions. Luckily no one asked and it was fine.

Sunday I felt really good so I decided to go take a walk. I went out to the park and walked my usual five mile loop. It was so nice to be outside! I'm very grateful that I feel as good as I do post marathon. I could only imagine if my body was sore how terrible this entire week could have been,

I hope to walk a little more in the coming week. I'm not sure when I will start running again. I will let my body decide that. Plus, we are heading to North Carolina for a wedding this weekend.

I want to sincerely thank all of you for the wonderful well wishes with not only my eye problem but with the marathon! I will have all of my recaps up for you guys this week and I am so excited to share everything with you guys!
