So, What's Next?

Guys, one month from today I turn 30! I can't believe I am almost done with my 20's. It has been such an incredible ride. I am so excited for our Disney trip and *hopefully* starting a new phase in my career. When it comes to running, I'm still trying to figure out what is next.

I do not have another race on my schedule for 2017. I am not signed up for a single race. My next registered race is the Disney Marathon in January. This is crazy for me! I usually have everything figured out for the whole year but this year is something different. I wanted to compete in my first triathlon, but that goal is not going to happen this year. So, what's next?

I decided I am not racing again until I am in my new age group. Being a month from 30, I can't hang with these early 20-year olds anymore. Especially how I'm feeling currently. I really want to race a few 5k's this summer and the main goal is the build a base for marathon training this fall. I plan on hitting the track and get back in to strength training.

I also got the good news that all of my tests came back negative so my eye issue is literally a mystery of why I am dealing with it. We might have to drain it one last time, but I'm feeling so much better and I really hope I don't need to get cut again. I said if my next appointment goes well I would sign up for the Presque Isle half marathon in July. I have always wanted to run this race, and if I can, I want to do it this year. I will also run the Liberty Mile at the end of July.

For the fall I told Carrie I would run The Great Race with her. Again, I am hoping for a better experience from the first time I ran this race. Since I will be about a month in to marathon training, I'm not sure what to expect. I am really hoping to make Rock 'n' Roll Philly again this year. Hey Kat, we need to work on that! I also think I am making my return to Buffalo Creek for the half marathon as part of my marathon training.

30 is looking like it's going to be a great year. I'm hoping for tons of fun, hard work and a new marathon PR! I'm excited to share the ride with all of you!

What's next for you in the second half of 2017?

  1. The 30s are awesome! It's definitely going to be a great year for you! Could you post about what 5ks you'll be doing? I did a little digging but couldn't find a single one I want to do! I'm also definitely doing Buffalo Creek since that's my favorite race. Still thinking about what else to do.

  2. Ah I was going to ask if you were doing the Riverview 5k but I guess not! It's a pretty small and slow race though so you will still probably win your/our age group ;)

  3. YAY for your 30s! I've still got another 2 years.. which I'm going to make the most of! I'm so glad your eye is better. I originally thought I wanted 500 miles for 2017 but.. plans change! I just want to stay consistent working out with the gym I'm going to. Pittsburgh really exhausted me of running :\

  6. For some reason I registered for a 50k 3 weeks after Pittsburgh (this effing Sunday), if I survive that I'm planning on a quieter summer as far as races go. It's awesome you're feeling better, so glad to hear it!
