Building A Summer Running Wardrobe

When I was building a new wardrobe for work I just kept asking myself why isn't there a guide for what I should be buying? There has to be other people like me starting a new job starting a new anything is really frustrating sometimes. How do you know you have everything you need? Who is going to tell me I'm wearing something incorrectly or that's not what you use that for? Then I got to thinking about beginner runners. We've all been beginners. Some of us really struggled with trying to find things to wear for different weather. Well, I want to be the one to help you in the next couple months I want to help you figure out what you should be wearing each season for running. I also want to try to make this as cost-effective for you as possible.

This is really all you need to start!

Summer is really easy because it's really what you feel most comfortable in. The basics are really all that you need for summer running.

You really need to start with a supportive sports bra. This goes for any season so if you can find a sports bra you like in the summer it should help you transition into the other months as well. I really like the Senita Athletics Sarah sports bra. It's nice and patted which I really like, and it has a cell phone holder in the back which is even better. You can find my review of that sports bra here. The other thing I highly recommend is just getting a pair of plain black shorts. This can be any brand any style any like that you like. Nothing is better than a pair of black shorts you can wear with anything. These ones are from Lululemon that I got for free for completing the Strava challenge a few months ago. Don't think that these are the only option. Head to Running Warehouse and see tons of stuff on sale or your local running store. Oh, I have a Senita Athletics promo code for 10% off your order, use runsteff for that!

Next I recommend you getting a pair of sunglasses and a headband or a hat. I don't wear hats to run which is why I love having a Sparkly Soul headbands that I can use instead. I use Goodr sunglasses because they were really good value at $25 and they shipped to me really fast. If you live in Pittsburgh I know that Mojo Running up in Cranberry is stocking  Goodr sunglasses now. You can get any hat as long as it's a tech hat and you can usually find them relatively cheap on the Internet. Check out Sparkly Soul's Facebook page for a lot of their sales. They do a lot of grab bags were you get random headbands for a certain amount of money. It's a great way to build a collection especially going into the other seasons.

Next to be very aware of what your top is. I would recommend having at least one tank top and one tech T-shirt for the summer months. You need to make sure that your fabric is a technical material cotton is very warm in the summer. You want to make sure that your fabric or breathe with you and not hinder in your performance. A lot of these tops that I have have come on clearance from either Dick's Sporting Goods or any other local running store. This is a great time to start looking even at your local outlets for summer clearance because they are transitioning seasons. I also don't buy a bunch of short sleeved tech shirts since I usually get them from races. It's a great cost saving tip.

The final thing I want to talk to you about is socks. I cannot tell you how many times from working at the running store when I asked what kind of socks somebody where is they tell me white ones. You do not want to be wearing cotton socks to run in the summer months, you don't want to be wearing cotton socks to run at all. I prefer PRO Compression socks all your round. I wear the high marathon socks whether it's 100° or 0° outside. But they do offer low options as well the black pair that I'm wearing in the picture are the no-shows and then the mint color are the low trainers. Each of them come in a pack of two and they're very true to size. They are a little padded on the toe and the heel which feels really nice. You can also save 40% on your order with discount code PRO17.

If you were starting out make sure that you go and get fitted for shoes at your local running store. I promise you there not trying to up sell you there just trying to help. You need to be honest with them and tell them what you're feeling when you're trying on shoes. Your shoes are the basis of what you need to be successful. And of course if you have any questions please feel free to ask me. I will gladly help with whatever I can that's what I'm here for.

Hopefully this guy to Summer running clothes has really helped you in the beginning stages. If you have a friend that might be interested in starting running and just doesn't know where to start show them this let them know they aren't alone that day everybody has been a beginner once. Remember, I have a few promo codes in this post, but you can find them all the time on the Discount Codes tab on the top of my page.
