Checking in on 2017

I cannot believe we are halfway through 2017. Hubs and I were talking the other day that we cannot believe we have taken two of our Disney trips already! I think the most fun part about this year so far is the memories I have made with my friends. From drinking around the world at Epcot, to pacing half marathons and random trips to wherever we want, it has been a lot of fun. Plus, there is still a ton to do in 2017!

I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for this weeks Five Things Friday. Since I am always behind, I want to look back on the halfway point of the year. 



1. 1,000 miles - As of me typing this, I am at 582 miles so I am right on track to accomplish this goal. Plus, marathon training starts again in a few months. I'm sure this number will start to ramp up!

2. Sub-1:50 half marathon - I am calling this a win. I ran a 1:50:05 at Towpath with a bloody foot. It was my second fastest half marathon and helped me accomplish my main goal for wanting this time, a better proof of time for the Disney Marathon.

3. Finish the Pittsburgh Marathon - CHECK! I never thought in a million years I would have not only finished the Pittsburgh Marathon, but was one minute off of my PR and set a 14 minutes course PR. It was a fantastic experience and taught me how much I truly love this running community. 

4. Attempt a 5K PR - This might not happen this year. You all know the struggles I've had getting back in to running after my eye issue. I'm not saying it won't happen. I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't, and that's alright.

5. Complete a Triathlon - Well, this isn't happening. After the health scare I lost a lot of time to train for a tri. It just wasn't in the cards this year. I have been using my bike on the trainer for cross training, but I have only been in a pool to sit in it and get sunburn.

That's where I'm at halfway through 2017. I am proud of everything I accomplished after some major road blocks. I'm hoping the second half of the year brings some more strides in the right direction, and fun along the way!

  3. I also can't believe this year is almost over. Good job on reaching your goals. I thought maybe I would try for a tri this year too but those thoughts went out the window. I may still volunteer though.

  5. You've had so many great running accomplishments so far this year! A triathlon sounds amazing - I would love to do one eventually but the swimming is my weakness!
