Summer Training - Week Eight

This week was my first full week at my new job. I knew there would be some adjusting but I didn't know how much. I realize during this week that I'm going to have to change up when I run and how I run because somethings just weren't working. Plus we had a ton of rain this week which really threw off my plans.

Monday was a rest day. It was awesome. Felt really good after my 10 miler last Sunday and I knew that my body needed to recover. That's the nice thing about not really training for anything right now you can take the extra day to recover if you need to.

Tuesday I had my baseline test for the Elite Running Academy. I don't want to go into details about what it was but I'm pretty satisfied.  I have a place to start in this training to see how I progress. I ran 2.25 miles total and I had to do it all on the treadmill. It wasn't that bad it was better than running in a thunderstorm.

Wednesday was a rest day because of the really crappy weather again. My commute took forever to get home because of all of the weather going on. It's again something I'm going to need to adjust to but it's still something I haven't adjusted to yet.

Thursday I ran three easy miles around my neighborhood. I really like running around my neighborhood once a week. It helps me kind of gauge where I'm at compared to how I was the week before.

Friday after work I had a down to Cal U to see  some of my college friends. I love and we can all get together cause we just sit around and laugh the whole time. We also made plans for next weekend which makes me super happy to be able to see them again.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early and met Gretchen, Jessie and Maddie for five miles around North Park. I love running with other people and easy days because it forces you to stay slower which is something I really need to work on. Everything felt great, we finished before the warm weather started and I got to finish a whole bunch of my errands I had to do before noon.

Sunday I ran the Presque Isle half marathon up in Erie. I'll recap this race for you later in the week. It wasn't really a race for me, I was not in shape to be running that fast for that far yet. Very happy with my effort but I know that there is a lot of work to be done to get back to where I wise. I'm ready for the challenge.

Weekly Total: 23.4 miles
July Total: 46.5 miles
2017 Total: 619.6 miles

I am happy with my effort last week. My knee and hip have really not been happy with me so I know I will have to pick and choose my battles. Hopefully it's an easy fix and I can be back to normal soon

Pittsburgh Running Bloggers, add your weekly recap to the link up below!

  1. Great job this week! I can't wait to read your race recap from Presque Isle. I thought it was funny they dropped the medals and gave out license plates instead.

  2. Great job this week. I think you did great considering this was your first week at a new job. You'll figure out the best time to do your workouts once you settle into your work routine!

    1. I agree. I'm getting there. I know it won't be an instant adjustment.

  3. So glad I got to run with you this week :) Great job with the race and your baseline test! I'll have to hear more about it later :)

  4. Are you wearing New Balance running shoes?! I thought you were a Saucony girl! Adjusting to a new job definitely takes time. It took me about six months! So good that you are cutting yourself some slack on taking recovery days when you need them.

    1. I have the Zante from last year that I use to race. I'm waiting for my new Kinvara to come in so I had to use them lol!
