Summer Training - Week Nine

This week was the first full week of the Elite Running Academy. I was super excited to start on the way towards marathon training! I was also still dealing with a cranky knee and hip from the half marathon the week before. It was a strange week for sure.

Monday I had my first full strength workout in a while and man did it kick my butt! So sweaty but so strong. I was excited when I finished, but I totally felt it the next day!

Tuesday I ran three really easy miles on the treadmill and another strength workout. The strength workout included some running so Dangle was having a hard time watching me. I'm not sure if it was cute or creepy.

Wednesday I woke up at 5am and got on the bike. I rode for 30 minutes and did my third strength workout. It felt SO GOOD to be able to workout in the morning during the week. I think this workout will be done at 5am from now on. I want to incorporate some other morning workouts during the week, but for now this will work.

OH!!!! I got a new toy too!!! Everyone, welcome the Garmin Fenix 5s sapphire. I love her and she is an amazing edition to my running. I want to review it for you all in a few weeks, once I play around with it.

Thursday was suppose to be a tempo run. I decided to do it on the treadmill to find my marathon pace. It's crazy to me to think that I'm already thinking about marathon training again. My hip and knee were still bothering me and I only made it two miles. At least my second mile was at marathon pace (8:54 was the closest to 9:00) and that made me happy. I stretched later on that night and felt/heard a pop in my leg. I guess my hip was out because as soon as it happened I felt so much better.

I decided to take Friday off to rest the "placed back in" hip. We met some friends for a Gin Blossoms concert and had a really fun time!

Saturday morning I met Carrie, Jessie, Gretchen and Becca for a little over five miles out at the park. We did two miles on the road and three on trails. Guys, this was a first for me. It was so hot and swampy but we did it!!

Sunday was a much needed rest day, Hubs and I ate and drank and some local places and got a ton of stuff done. It was great!

Weekly Total: 10.3 Miles
July Total: 56.7 Miles
2017 Total: 630 Miles

So it was a rough week, numbers wise, but a huge win in other aspects. I'm excited that my hip is back to normal and I could actually have a morning workout! Friday is the Liberty Mile which I'm super excited about. It probably won't be my best showing, but I am excited for the fun that the event brings!
