Five Things Friday - 9.8

It's Friday! A short week always throws me off, but I was really happy that my marathon training cycle started on a short work week! It's so crazy that we are getting so close to a ton of big race weekends. Summer just flew by!

I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for this weeks Five Things Friday. This weeks topic is post race meals/snacks. This is clearly speaking my language. It's all about the post run meal for me. It even comes up in conversation during most of my runs!

1. Mountain Dew - If you know me, you know my go to is Mountain Dew. I can't drink coffee before or after a run, so Dew is my go to. I know a lot of people love Diet Coke after a run, but I like the lighter taste of Dew. You can usually find me cracking one in my car as soon as I'm done. No shame, no judgement.

2. Pizza - If I am running longer than 15 miles, I will usually stop for pizza on my way home. I want something to make me feel full, and pizza is my favorite food. Plus, I can have leftovers for later. Win win!

3. Donuts - Because sprinkles are for winners!

4. Asiago Cheese Bagel from Panera Bread - You all know what I'm talking about! I pass a Panera Bread on my way home from my usual weekend running spot. If it's before 10am when I'm done, I will usually stop and get a bagel or two.

5. Smiley Cookies - I really don't like Smiley Cookies, but if you live/race in Pittsburgh they are always there. I usually do not take the cookie (it has like hard sugary frosting on it that I just don't like) but sometimes I'm just so hungry I will. I know a bunch of runners who crave them after races because THEY ARE ALWAYS THERE!

I am super curious to know what your go to post race meal/snack is! Let me know in the comments! Have a great weekend everyone!

  2. I used to drink Mountain Dew in college, but I haven't had it in years, maybe even decades LOL. I do love a Coke post race though. It's often my long run indulgence. I'm still kicking myself for not buying donuts after my long run last week...

  6. I don't have a huge appetite right away, but when it comes, I eat whatever I crave. Sometimes it's like a ham and cheese sandwich with chips, sometimes it's dippy eggs. I love pizza but if I have that it won't be right after a run, but later on for dinner.

  7. I used to drink Mountain Dew ALL. THE. TIME. It was my go to beverage. I haven't had it in years! Mmmm. And I eat pizza for dinner after almost every long run. Which will be interesting now that I'm trying to steer clear of cheese. Ack!

  8. Oh Panera...I LOVE their cinnamon crunch bagel! There's a half marathon I've done for the past 6 years (had to take a pass this year due to my surgery/recovery) and I'd always get a bagel the night before to eat on the way to the race....oh, serious FOMO....
