Disney Marathon Training - Week 13

This week was my second highest mileage week this training. As I get closer to this race I'm starting to look forward to it all being over. I am really ready to be done training for marathons. Like really and I'm not kidding.

Monday I headed to barre class after work. I really like the classes and my muscles are enjoying the different types of workouts.

Tuesday was on the track. Here is how it broke down.
1 mile warm up
400m x 12 Goal 1:53 (1:35 1:32 1:35 1:34 1:35 1:40 1:39 1:40 1:40 1:37 1:37 1:38)
1 mile cool down
A little over 5 miles total.

I have no idea where these splits are coming from. It felt great and I also ran in a sports bra. No lie. It was super warm.

Wednesday I went to barre in the morning and decided I like morning classes way better. It's a great way to start the day. I also did a run after work. Six miles at 8:57 - eight miles total.

Thursday hubs and I went to the NXT show in Pittsburgh. We had a great time and I even got to rub shoulders with some local wrestling talent. NBD.

Friday I had a super rough treadmill run after work. My brain would not shut off and I only made it three miles. Some miles are better than no miles.

Saturday was a super busy day! Barre class to kick off the day. Maddie, Carrie and I then went to the Pittsburgh Class Center to make some ornaments! It was a blast. Then Carrie and I met Kelsey for brunch and headed to the Handmade Arcade. Hubs and I finished the day with a birthday party. I proceeded to pass out on the couch at 8:30pm. Woof.

Sunday I ran 18 miles. 18 miles is always really rough for me. I don't know why, but it is. I ran a pretty good first 15 miles but then my IT Band tightened up real bad. Like felt like my hip dropped in to my knee. It was super rough but I made it through!

Weekly Total: 34.3 miles
December Total: 21 miles
2017 Total: 1,046 miles

I finished November 113 miles which was great for me! As I get closer and closer to finishing out this training cycle, I get very excited to not be running a marathon after this for a good long while. Maybe even ever. Well, not focusing on a time - that's for sure. My body is not made for these long distances and I have no real reason to keep doing them. I'm not going for a BQ, I do this for fun. It's starting to not become fun. Either way, I am going to finish this all out strong.

I also want to thank everyone so much for supporting my Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation raffle! We are over $700 raised so far which is beyond anything I could have imagined. The fundraiser is still going on, and I will be doing the raffle here soon for those who entered. You can still donate here!

What distance gives you the most trouble? How do you get past it?

  1. Good week Steph! I know what you mean about marathons. I keep debating being done with them too. There was a point and time where they were fun to train for but I think that ship may have passed for me.

    1. It’s so rough and such a hard decision. I just can’t keep putting this much time and energy in to one race. It’s too much!
